Position Overview:

In the role of a Welder at Francis Brown, you are entrusted with a range of responsibilities critical to maintaining our high standards in fabrication. Your primary duties encompass the accurate interpretation of fabrication drawings, weld procedure documentation, and weld inspection procedures. You are expected to ensure the precision of your work and maintain general housekeeping in your working areas.

A key part of your role involves verifying that the details on the weld procedures and preparations align with the job specifications and executing tack welding if qualified, following company and client standards. You are responsible for checking the validity of welding equipment and ensuring it meets the requirements of the approved weld procedures.

Your expertise extends to ensuring that welding consumables comply with the welding procedure specification (WPS), are correctly stored and protected, and are maintained throughout the fabrication process. Performing any required weld tests as specified by the company is also a part of your responsibilities.

You will carry out welding operations in accordance with the correct weld procedures and pertinent work instructions and undertake the dressing of welds to meet established standards. Collaboration with inspection/quality teams and other departments is essential for the success of our projects.

Maintaining general housekeeping, managing cables, and adhering to safe working practices in the fabrication halls and throughout the facility are also integral to your role.

Your Background:

  • Completed a time served apprenticeship in the relevant discipline.
  • MMA (SMAW ) Coded.
  • GSFAW coded.
  • Experience in fabrication welding.
  • Familiar with Welding Standards BSEW 15614-1 and AWS D.1.1 etc
  • To act and behave in a professional and productive manner.
  • To be able to meet targets and objectives set by production supervisors and the company.
  • Embrace new challenges and ensure individual and collective competency.
